UNH's Charlebois selected in 2005 NHL Draft

OTTAWA-- Incoming freshman defenseman Joe Charlebois (Potsdam, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in round six with the 188th overall pick in the first day of the 2005 NHL Draft in Ottawa.

Charlebois (6-1, 210 lbs.) skated for the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL last year scoring 25 points (lg, 24a) in 59 regular season contests leading the Musketeers to the Clark Cup finals. Prior to last season, he skated for the U.S. National Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Charlebois becomes the 78th all-time Wildcat in the history of the program to be chosen in the NHL Draft.

The Wildcats roster will feature at least seven players on the 2005-2006 roster drafted by a NHL team. In addition to Charlebois, Brett Hemingway (Colorado), Michael Hutchins (San Jose), Jeff Pietrasiak (Phoenix), Kevin Regan (Boston), Craig Switzer (Nashville), Daniel Winnik (Phoenix) have all been selected in the NHL draft.
