DURHAM, N.H. – Junior goaltender Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named CCM/RBK Hockey East Player of the Month for January on Thursday afternoon by the conference office.
    Regan helped the Wildcats earn their first No. 1 national ranking in over three years and has been the backbone of the UNH team that has occupied first place in the Hockey East standings for the majority of the season.
    He helped the ‘Cats to a 5-1-0 record in the month of January, which included a 5-0-0 record in five starts for the junior netminder. Regan also amassed 144 saves in the month on 150 shots by his opponents to go along with a 1.25 GAA and a .960 save percentage.
    For his efforts, Regan was named Hockey East Player of the Month for the first time in his Wildcat career. Some of his outstanding efforts included a 34-save performance Jan. 6 vs. Vermont, a season-high 43 saves against Dartmouth on Jan. 13 and a 32-save effort Jan. 27 vs. Providence.
    Regan has started 21 of UNH’s 24 games this season and has posted a 17-3-1 record to date with a 2.03 GAA and a .933 save percentage. Regan ranks third in the league in GAA and first in save percentage. He is 6-0-0 in his last six starts with a 1.05 GAA and a .967 save percentage. He has stopped 176 of 182 shots by the opponent during that time.
    In league play, Regan owns a 13-1-1 record with a 1.75 GAA and .939 save%. He ranks second among conference goalies in GAA (1.75) and first in save percentage (.939). His 83.3% winning percentage is best in Hockey East and ranks second nationally. He also ranks fifth in the nation in GAA and third in save percentage.
    The No. 1 ranked Wildcats return to action on Friday, Feb. 2 vs. Maine. Game time at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. is 7 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on College Sports Television (CSTV).
