TWO FORMER MEN’S HOCKEY PLAYERS NAMED TO USA SELECT TEAM
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former UNH men’s hockey players Eric Nickulas (Hyannis, Mass.) and Steve Saviano (Reading, Mass.) have been named to the 2007 U.S. Men’s Select Team that will compete at the 2007 Deutschland Cup from Nov. 8-11, in Hannover, Germany.  The team was released on Monday by USA Hockey.

Nickulas played for the Wildcats from 1994-97 and record 113 points (70-43-113) in 106 games. He was UNH’s 1997 Robert A. Kullen Unsung Hero award winner.

Saviano was the fifth player in UNH hockey history to be named a Hobey Baker finalist. He was a first-team All-American in 2004 and was the Hockey East Player of the Year that same season.

The U.S. Men’s Select Team will play Germany in an exhibition game on Wednesday (Nov. 7) before opening the Deutschland Cup on Thursday (Nov. 8) against the tournament host.

NOTES FROM USA HOCKEY: The Deutschland Cup has taken place every year since 1990 … The tournament includes host Germany, Denmark Japan, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United States … Team USA won the tournament in 2003 and 2004, and finished in third place in 2005, the last year the team competed in the event.
