THOMPSON NAMED HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward Paul Thompson (Derry, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. The announcement was made Monday by the league office.

Thompson continued his breakout freshman season with an impressive hat trick, five-point performance in a 5-4 overtime win at Providence College on Nov. 17. The nation's leader in goals per game for rookies (0.75), Thompson potted three goals, including the game-tying and game-winning goals. Overall, he had a hand in every UNH goal on the night and skated to a +4. Thompson, who tallied the game winner at 2:03 in the extra session, became the first Wildcat to record a hat trick since Jacob Micflikier did it on Feb. 23, 2007 versus PC. He also became the first Wildcat to tally five points in a game since Justin Aikins on Feb. 11, 2005 against UMass.?Through eight games played this season Thompson has 10 points and six goals.

The No. 8-ranked Wildcats (6-2-1) return to action Nov. 24 for non-conference action against Brown University (1-3-3). Puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center. Fans will be able to watch the game live online at UNHwildcats.tv or listen to the game on the UNH Sports Network.
