REGAN NAMED HOCKEY EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior goaltender Kevin Regan (South Boston, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named Pure Hockey Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, for the first time this season. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Regan helped lift UNH to a 4-1 win over Hockey East foe Boston University in the season opener on Friday night. Regan, who was named the game's No. 1 star, finished with 30 saves, including 12 in the first period when BU scored its only goal, and 10 in the third to protect the Wildcats' lead.

He is a perfect 1-0-0 this season, allow just a single power-play goal after facing 31 shots on Friday night.

In 81 career games as a Wildcat, Regan owns a 48-21-9 overall mark to go along with six shutouts, a 2.30 GAA and .928 save percentage.

The No. 6 ranked Wildcats (1-0-0) will face No. 4 Colorado College (2-0-0) on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26-27 to open the home portion of the regular season. Puck drops both nights at 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.
