WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Mike Sislo (Superior, Wis.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named Reebok Hockey East Player of the Week. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon. Sislo becomes the first UNH player to win this award since Jerry Pollastrone (Revere, Mass.) earned the honor on March 17.
Sislo scored six points on four goals and two assists in a 9-4 win over Holy Cross. The four goals by a Wildcat player was the first four-goal performance since Jan. 23, 2004 (Steve Saviano). Sislo is first on the team and second in Hockey East in goal scoring with 11. Additional, he became the first UNH player to record six points in a game since Darren Haydar had six (3g, 3a) against Brown on Dec. 28, 2001.
New Hampshire is idle until Jan. 4, 2009, when the Wildcats play at Maine (4 p.m.) The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPNU. UNH’s next home game is Jan. 10 (7 p.m.) against UMass
