FOSTER NAMED HOCKEY EAST GOALIE OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Junior goaltender Brian Foster (Pembroke, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team was ITECH Hockey East Goalie of the Month for October. The announcement was made on Tuesday morning. Foster becomes the first Wildcat netminder to win this award since Kevin Regan in February, 2008.

Foster played all six games in the month and went 4-1-1 with wins over three nationally ranked teams. He stopped 30-plus shots on four occasions and allowed two goals or fewer in five out of six starts. He totaled a season-high 38 saves in a 1-1 tie against UMass and recorded a shutout of Rensselaer on Oct. 27.

The fifth-ranked Wildcats (4-1-2) will travel to face No. 4 Minnesota (4-0-2) this weekend. The teams will meet Friday, Nov. 7 (8 p.m. EST) and Saturday, Nov. 8 (7 p.m. EST) at the Mariucci Arena.
