FOSTER FETED AS HOCKEY EAST CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior goaltender
Brian Foster (Pembroke, N.H.) of the University of
New Hampshire men’s hockey team was named Hockey East
Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made Monday
by the league office. He earns this award for the second time this
season and fourth time of his career.
Foster helped lift the Wildcats to a pair of wins against
nationally-ranked Hockey East foes stopping 57 of 60 shots over the
weekend. He posted an impressive .950 save percentage and a 1.50
save percentage. Foster stopped 29 shots on Friday allowing just
one goal in a win against eighth-ranked Mass.-Lowell. In
Sunday’s 5-2 win over #19 Vermont, Foster turned away 28
shots and surrendered just a pair of power play goals under tough
road conditions at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
UNH returns to action when it concludes the 2009 slate at
Providence College on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at Schneider Arena
in Providence R.I. The game will be broadcast regionally on Cox-TV
in Rhode Island. The Wildcats return home after the holiday break
on Sunday, Jan. 3 (3 p.m.) against Cornell University. The game
will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
