BUTLER, FOSTER GARNER HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY HONORS
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Seniors Bobby
Butler (Marlboro, Mass.) and Brian Foster
(Pembroke, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men’s
hockey team were named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week and
Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. The announcements were
made Monday by the league office. Butler earns Player of the Week
for the second time this year, while Foster earns the
league’s top defensive honor for a league-best third time
this season.
Butler, the Hockey East leader in points and goals, had five points
during the weekend helping UNH to a three-point weekend in Hockey
East against a pair nationally ranked foes. Butler handed out an
assist on the game-tying goal on Friday night against Mass.-Lowell
and registered a career-high four points with two goals and two
assists against UMass on Saturday. Butler had a hand in UNH’s
first three goals.
Foster stopped 53 of 57 shots over the weekend leading New
Hampshire to three points against a pair of nationally ranked
Hockey East foes. Foster turned away 27 shots on Friday in a 2-2
tie against Mass.-Lowell, while stopping 26 shots in a 7-2 win over
UMass on Saturday. Foster posted a 1.92 GAA and a .930 save
percentage during the weekend.
