WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward Paul Thompson (Derry, N.H.) of the sixth-ranked University of New Hampshire men's hockey team (15-5-4, 13-2-2 HE) was named Hockey East Athletic Republic co-Player of the Month for February. The announcement was made Tuesday morning by the league office. Thompson, who earned HE Player of the Week honors on Jan. 10 and 31, shares the honors with Stephane Da Costa of Merrimack.
Thompson, who was the league's player of the month in November, registered 14 points and 1.75 points per game (9g, 5a) in eight games for the Wildcats, leading them to a 5-3-0 record in the month. He tallied a goal in six of nine games and a point in 7 of 9. Thompson had five multi-point efforts with a +3 rating and two game-winning goals. He notched four points and a hat trick on Jan. 7 vs. UMass-Lowell.
New Hampshire returns to action Feb. 4 (7:30 p.m.) at home against the University of Maine. Those teams face off again at the Whittemore Center on Feb. 5 (7 p.m.). Both "White out the Whitt" games will be televised on NESN.
