Men's Hockey Tabbed 12th in a Pair of Preseason National Polls

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team debuted in the 12th spot in USCHO.com's and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine's Men's College Hockey Polls this season.  The Wildcats garnered 368 points in USCHO's 20-team poll and earned 124 points in USA Today's 15-team poll.

The Wildcats ended the 2010-11 season ranked ninth with a 22-11-6 record. New Hampshire is one of five Hockey East teams in the top 20 nationally (#5 Boston College, #10 Boston University, #15 Merrimack and #16 Maine). New Hampshire spent all of 2010-11 in the national polls including a No. 2 ranking in both polls at the end of the first half of the season.

UNH opens the season with three nationally-ranked opponents in the first month of play including a tilt with sixth-ranked Boston University to open the season Oct. 8 (8 p.m.). The team's home opener is Oct. 15 (7 p.m.) against fifth-ranked Boston College.
