WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman forward Casey Thrush (Easton, Md.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week. The announcement was made Monday by the league office. Thrush earns the award for the first time this season and becomes the first Wildcat since Kevin Goumas (March 28, 2011) to win this award.
Thrush registered his first collegiate goal and added an assist in UNH's convincing 5-0 win over UMass Lowell on Friday night. Thrush had six shots on net and was a +2 on the weekend. He is tied with Grayson Downing for the most points by a Wildcat freshman with six points apiece.
Thrush and UNH returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Harvard University (7 p.m.). The Wildcats return home on Saturday, Nov. 26 for a non-conference game against Alabama-Huntsville (7 p.m.). Tickets for the UAH game and information on all things UNH hockey log on to UNHWildcats.com.
