Cory Schwartz  is now in his 30th year coaching with the Nordic program and 25th year as the ski coordinator at UNH. During his tenure, Schwartz has led the Wildcats to 22 top-10 NCAA finishes, including back-to-back seventh place finishes (‘84 & ‘85) within his first three years at the University and an eighth-place run in ’11 –the squad’s best finish in 11 seasons. From 1989-1996, Schwartz’s teams claimed eight consecutive top-10 NCAA finishes, the most in school history. 

Schwartz has mentored 29 student-athletes to a total of 39 All-America team selections. Included in that number are 17 Nordic skiers compiling 11 All-America team honors.   

Schwartz was named Coach of the Year by the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) in 1985, ‘86, 2002 and ’03 and was awarded the Al Merrill Award by the state of New Hampshire in 1998.

During his collegiate career at UNH, Schwartz competed in the NCAA Championships three times before graduating in 1982. The North Conway, N.H., native had his top performance during his junior season when he placed 10th in the NCAAs. He began coaching the men's squad in a post-graduate year and, the following season, took over the duties for the women's team.

He is Level II certified and has served as a member of both the Eastern USSA Sr. Committee and Chairman of the NCAA Committee.

Brian Blank is in his fifth season as UNH alpine head coach in 2011-12.  Brian is a 1995 UNH graduate with over 10 years of experience as an alpine ski racing coach as well as 15 years experience as an alpine ski racer. He lettered on the UNH ski team from 1991-95 and served as team captain in 1994-95.

In 2011, Blank mentored a pair of All-Americans in Zach Clayton (slalom, giant slalom) and Sam Coffey (slalom), helping the Wildcats post an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the school’s best showing in 11 years. Further, junior Paul Atkinson was named to the All-East First Team.

Under Blank’s guidance, the 2010 alpine team boasted of a pair of All-America selections in seniors Veronique Archambault-Leger and Dylan McGuffin.

In 2009, Blank was named EISA Alpine Coach of the Year.  During that season, the alpine team earned eight All-America honors. The alpine team was the top scoring team in the east and the second-highest scoring team at the NCAA Championships.  Through the regular season, the men’s alpine team won 11 of 12 events.

In the 2007-08 season -- Blank’s first year -- there were three alpine Wildcats who earned All-America status.

From 2001-2006, Blank coached at Stratton Mountain School. While at SMS, Blank served as the men’s FIS coach.  Prior to that position, coach Blank worked at Rowmark Ski Academy (1998-2000) in Salt Lake City, Utah and with the Brighton Ski Team (1995-98).

Stephen Monsulick, a 2007 graduate of Bates College, embarks upon his fourth season as the Nordic assistant coach at UNH in 2011-12.

He was a member of the Bates varsity ski team and captain for the 2007 season. Also at Bates, Stephen was a two-time NCAA qualifier for cross-country running. Before coming to UNH, Monsulick spent the 2008 season as the assistant Nordic ski coach at his alma mater.

Katie Hitchcock is in her first season as assistant coach for the men's and women's alpine ski teams. The Carmichael, Calif., native was a member of the United States ski team from 2003-07. She also competed independently from 2008-11. She grew up skiing at Squaw Valley and moved to Sugar Bowl Academy in 1999.
