UNH Wins Season Opener Over UMass 1-0

Durham, N.H.- UNH started its season off on a positive note when senior co-captain Brian Rosa (Portsmouth, R.I.) found the back of the net in the first half off an assist from senior Aaron Brunner (Dumfries, Va.) and junior Adam Purcell (Barrington, R.I.) to put the Wildcats on top 1-0.

The Wildcats would retain the lead as both teams battled through a scoreless second half. UNH improves to 1-0, while UMass falls to 0-1.

Senior goalkeeper Mitch Osman (Herndon, Va.) stopped five shots for UNH, as UMass netminder Todd Fowler made four saves in the loss.

UNH will host the 10th Annual Nike UNH Soccer Classic on September 4 and 5. The Wildcats face Quinnipiac College on Saturday and Philadelphia University on Sunday, both games start at 3 p.m. Students get in free with UNH ID, while the cost for adults is $5 and $2 for seniors and youths.
