BOSTON- The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team fell to Northeastern 2-1 Sunday. The Wildcats stand at 4-5-1 and 0-1-1 in the AMERICA EAST. Northeastern is 6-3 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
In the first half, Petter Stamas scored the Huskies first goal on a penalty kick for the 1-0 lead. Wildcat senior Brian Rosa (Portsmouth, R.I.) knotted the game 1-1 on a direct kick.
In the second half. Starnas sent Anders Hoyem and Nate Houghton on a two-on-one breakaway. Houghton put one past UNH keeper Mitch Osman (Herndon, Va.) midway through the second half for a 2-1 Husky lead.
UNH had a chance to even the Score with 16 seconds left in regulation, but Husky Ryan McKibban blocked Wildcat junior Tyler Tibbs (Beaverton, Oregon) shot.
Osman stopped five shots and husky goaltender Allan Lewis made two saves.
The Wildcats return home Friday for a 3:30 p.m. game against Vermont. They host Hartford on Sunday Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
