UNH Men's Soccer Falls In OT To Delaware, 2-1

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware defeated the University of New Hampshire, 2-1 in overtime, in men's soccer, Sunday.

The winning goal came 4:15 into overtime on a direct kick from Dan Kean that was controlled by Rob MacLeod and sent into the net.

Delaware opened up the scoring 9:16 into the first half as Todd Everett headed the ball into the net off an assist from Kean.

The game remained the same until three minutes into the second half when UNH junior Adam Purcell (Barrington, R.I.) headed the tying goal into the net off an assist from freshman Doug Lawver (Doylestown, Pa.). Purcell increased his team leading goal total to 14 this season, ranking him among the top fifteen goal scorers in the nation.

Delaware improved its record to 5-8-1 (3-2 America East), while New Hampshire fell to 4-9-1 (0-5-1 America East).

The Wildcats host Drexel on Friday, Oct. 22nd, at 3:30 p.m.
