ONEONTA, N.Y. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team fell to No. 4 Connecticut 1-0 in second-round action of the Hartwick/Neptune Soccer Classic here this afternoon. The win improves the Huskies to 4-1-0 on the year, while the Wildcats, ranked sixth in New England, fall to 3-3-0.
After a scoreless first half, Connecticut, which entered the game ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA national poll, scored the game's only goal when Darin Lewis (Tunapuna, Trinidad) scored in the 67th minute on a feed from Chris Gbandi (Houston, Texas). The ball landed on the goal line and bounced into the net for the game-winner.
UConn owned a 17-6 shot advantage for the game.
Junior Shaun O'Neil (Wrentham, Mass.) made four saves in net for the Wildcats, while Bryheem Hancock (Middletown, Del.) stopped two shots for the Huskies.
UNH is back in action on Wednesday (9/20) travels to face Atlantic 10 foe Massachusetts. Game time in Amherst is 3:30 p.m.
