DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will be in action twice at home this weekend. On Friday (10/6), the Wildcats entertain Boston University in a 3:30 p.m. contest, while on Sunday, New Hampshire hosts Northeastern in a 2 p.m. tilt. Both games will be played at Lewis Field.
UNH enters the weekend at 4-4-0 and 1-0-0 in America East. The 'Cats are led on offense by junior Andy Karam, who has totaled 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) on the year. Karam netted America East Player of the Week honors this week after recording two goals and an assist in a 3-0 win over Maine. Other offensive production has come from senior Drew Ferrigno (3-3-9), sophomore Doug Lawver (1-6-8), and freshman Nicola Chicco (2-1-5). Lawver is ranked 10th in the nation in assists per game. Junior Shaun O'Neil has seen the bulk of action in net and owns a 1.12 goals-against average, placing him second in America East.
The Terriers stand at 4-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in America East. Kirk Miller leads the offensive charge for BU, totaling 15 points (7-1-15) thus far. Other offensive leaders for the Terriers include Alan McNamara (3-2-8) and Chris Bone (1-5-7). Mike Cardenas has played nine games in net and owns a 1.40 GAA with two shutouts.
Northeastern enters the weekend at 4-6-0 and 1-1-0 in the league. The Huskies will face Maine on Friday before traveling to Durham on Sunday. Northeastern is led by Peter Starnas who has tallied 11 points on five goals and an assist. Blair Carroll and Anders Hoyem has each contributed seven points thus far. Allen Lewis has played every minute in goal for the Huskies and owns a 1.93 GAA along with two shutouts.
