DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team is ranked seventh in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) New England Region poll released Monday. It marks the second-straight week UNH has been ranked No. 7
UNH won its only game last week, defeating Massachusetts 1-0. Junior Josh Hareld (North Kingstown, R.I.) netted the game-winning goal in the 80th minute on an assist from freshman Eric Masi (York, Maine). Sophomore Mike Vignola (Hudson, N.H.) recorded his second shutout of the season by stopping four saves. Vignola lowered his goals-against average to an America East-leading 0.75.
The 'Cats have three of the top 10 scorers in America East as of Monday. Sophomore Logan Lee (Racine, Wis.) ranks fifth after he has totaled five goals for 10 points on the season. Junior Nicola Chicco (Claymont, Del.) is sixth with totals of 4-1-9, while Hareld is ninth with a goal and four assists for six points.
The 'Cats are in action twice this week, hitting the road for games at Providence Wednesday (9/25) and the America East opener at Binghamton Sunday (9/29). The next UNH home game is Saturday, October 5 when the Wildcats entertain Northeastern in a 2 p.m. match.
