DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team has earned a berth in the upcoming America East Men's Soccer Championship. The Wildcats clinched a berth when Hartford defeated Boston University 2-1 Wednesday night. That result, coupled with UNH's 3-1 win over Maine Wednesday afternoon, clinched a spot in the tournament field for the 'Cats for the second straight year. Northeastern and Vermont have also secured spots in the four-team tourney, which kicks off November 9.
UNH is unbeaten in its last six outings as it has compiled a 10-3-2 overall mark and a 4-1-2 record in America East. The 'Cats, who sit in a third-place tie with Albany with 14 points, could move into one of the top two spots and host an opening round tournament game November 9 or 10. Vermont, with a 5-1-1 league record, currently leads the league with 16 points, while 5-2-0 Northeastern sits second with 15 points.
New Hampshire closes out the regular season Sunday, November 3 with a game at Stony Brook. Dates, sites and pairings for the America East Men's Soccer Championship will be announced early next week.
