Hubbard hired as UNH men's soccer assistant coach

DURHAM, N.H. -University of New Hampshire men's soccer coach Rob Thompson announced Thursday that Marc Hubbard (Durham, N.H.) has been hired as assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Hubbard replaces Matt Verni, who worked with the Wildcats for two seasons and is now head coach at the University of New Haven. Hubbard, who worked with the Wildcats as an assistant last year, is now Thompson's first assistant.

A 2003 graduate of Colgate, Hubbard was a three-time Patriot League second team selection and an NSCAA All-New York selection in 2002. At Oyster River High School, he led the Bobcats to the Class I state title while scoring 23 goals and 18 assists his senior season.

More recently, Hubbard has been playing professional soccer in the USL A-League. Hubbard played for the Syracuse Salty Dogs in 2003 and is currently a member of the Wilmington Hammerheads.

Hubbard will assist in all aspects of the program including the day-to-day operations and organizing practices for the Wildcats.
