HAMDEN, Conn. - Dominic Popolozio scored at the 32:31 mark to lift the Quinnipiac men's soccer team to 1-0 victory over New Hampshire in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Field.
Popolozio, who had a team-high four shots, intercepted a pass in the New Hampshire end and blasted a shot from 25 yards into the upper right-hand corner past Wildcat goalkeeper Mike Vignola (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) for an unassisted goal.
Quinnipiac held off a late charge from New Hampshire, which had all four of its corner kick attempts during the second half. The Wildcats had three corners in a three-minute span late in the half. One corner resulted in a Ross Fishbain (Racine, Wis./Racine Horlick) header that went wide.
New Hampshire (4-3-5, 3-0-2 America East) return to conference action Wednesday, October 20, when the Wildcats travel to face Stony Brook at 5 p.m.
