Durham, N.H. – Juniors Bryan Stewart (Swanzey, N.H.) and John Bergqvist (Hollviken, Sweden) each contributed goals to help the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team with a 2-0 win
Junior back John Bergqvist scored his first season goal on a header into the middle of the net off a corner kick.
over the University of Maine Saturday afternoon at Lewis Field. 
    The win is New Hampshire’s first America East conference win of the season.  New Hampshire breaks a two-game losing streak and improves to 6-4-2 and 1-2-0 in conference play.  Maine drops to 0-11-0 overall and 0-3-0 in conference play.
    The first goal was scored in the 68th minute when Stewart redirected a shot from 15 yards out into the right corner of the goal. 
    Bergqvist added the game’s second goal in the 73rd minute on a header into the middle of the net off a right corner kick from Mike McKee (Newtown, Pa.).
    New Hampshire outshot Maine 21-3 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. 
    Maine’s goalkeeper Giacomo Brunino made five saves in net while Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made one save for New Hampshire.
New Hampshire continues conference play and will host Boston University on October 4 at 3 p.m. on Lewis Field.
