Durham, N.H. – Freshman Chris Banks (Westborough, Mass.) scored two goals to lift the University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team over nationally ranked America East rival Boston University,
Junior Derek Bragg recorded an assist in a 2-1 win over Boston University.
2-1, during Wednesday afternoon’s match at Lewis Field.
    New Hampshire improves to 7-4-2 overall (2-2-0 AE) while BU falls to 6-2-4 overall (1-1-1 AE).
    The win over BU was the first for New Hampshire since a 3-0 victory over the Terriers on October 26, 2002.  The win also marks the second time this season the Wildcats have defeated a nationally ranked team.  Previously, they defeated Central Connecticut 2-0 on September 8.
    Banks, making his fourth start of the season, scored the game’s first goal in the 17th minute when he received a pass from Derek Bragg (Downington, Pa.) and kicked a hard shot into the right corner of the net from 15 yards out.
    Banks scored his second goal of the game in the 27th minute on another hard shot from 20 yards out into the right corner of the goal.  Sophomore Mike McKee (Newtown, Pa.)  assisted on the play.
    The Terriers started the second half strong.  Jin Oh scored an unassisted goal on a header into the right corner in the 50th minute to pull the Terriers to within one goal in the game.
    BU outshot UNH 15-7 in shots, including 11 in the second half.  New Hampshire’s Brian Levey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made seven saves in net while BU’s Zach Riffett posted one save for the Terriers.
    New Hampshire will host America East leader Albany (5-4-2, 3-0-0 AE) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
