MEN'S TRACK & FIELD TAKES DUAL MEET WITH HOLY CROSS
DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) and senior Anthony Vorachak each won a pair of events to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track and field team to a 124-51 win against the College of the Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at the Paul Sweet Oval.
Dinnan was victorious in the mile run as he finished in a time of four minutes, 23.74 seconds. Dinnan also finished first in the 3000-meter run in 8:47.15. Sophomore Dan Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) finished second at 8:48.87.
Vorachak placed first in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 9.00 inches. Freshman Garrett Finn was second with a jump of 20-3.00. Vorachak was also first in the triple jump with a mark of 44-10.25, while Finn was right behind in second at 44-9.75. In addition, Vorachak finished second in the pole vault as he cleared a height of 12-11.50. Junior John Donaghy (Sutton, N.H.) was first at 13-11.25.
Senior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) won the 55 meters in 6.59 seconds, while freshman Victor Adejuyigbe was second at 6.67 seconds. Adejuyigbe also won the 200 meters in 23.80 seconds, with sophomore Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placing second in 24.16 seconds. Mitchell also recorded a first-place finish of his own as he won the 500 meters in 1:08.17. Classmate Matthew Miller (Concord, Calif.) was second at 1:11.92.
Junior Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished first in the 400 meters in 53.13 seconds.
Sophomore Bill Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) placed first in the 800 meters in a time of 2:01.83.
Freshmen Corey Duchemin (Manchester, N.H.) and Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) were first and second, respectively, in the 1000 meters at times of 2:35.15 and 2:35.63.
In the 55-meter hurdles, freshman Mike Marshall and sophomore Renrick Pesce (Bristol, Conn.) placed first and second, respectively, in 8.14 and 8.33 seconds.
The Wildcats' 4x400-meter relay team finished first in a time of 3:36.23, while the 4x800 squad was second at 8:28.64.
In the shot put, junior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) and graduate student Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.) finished first and second, respectively, with throws of 56-8.75 and 49-4.25. Kaste also won the weight throw with a toss of 56-7.25, while senior Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) was second with a mark of 50-11.00.
Freshman Matt Guarente won the high jump with a leap of 6-6.75.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, Jan. 29 at the Boston Indoor Games at the Reggie Lewis Center.
