BOSTON - Junior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) finished first in the shot put to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track and field team at the open and non-scoring BU Valentine Invitational Dec. 12-13 at the Track & Tennis Center.

Paey used a throw of 56 feet, 8.50 inches to win the event, while graduate student Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H) was seventh with a toss of 51-00.25. Kaste also placed fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 59-8.25, with senior Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) finishing ninth at 54-6.75.

Freshman Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6-6.75, while classmate Garrett Finn (Lebanon, N.H.) was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 44-11.75.

Senior Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) finished seventh in the long jump at 22-1.

On the track, sophomore Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) ran to a sixth-place finish in the 58-runner 500 meters, crossing the finish line at one minute, 4.91 seconds.

Senior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) finished 13th of 199 in the 200 meters in a time of 21.84 seconds.

Classmate Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) placed 29th in the 191-harrier 3000 meters in 8:27.65.

The Wildcats return to action Feb. 19-20 at the America East Championships right back at the Track & Tennis Center.
