MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT LARRY ELLIS INVITE

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Juniors Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) and Michael Simon (Durham, Conn.) each won an event as the University of New Hampshire men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 16-17 at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.

Paey won the shot put with an NCAA Regional-qualifying throw of 17.48 meters. Graduate student Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.), freshmen Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) and Chris Dupuis (Plaistow, N.H.) and junior John Randall (Boscawen, N.H.) placed sixth, 13th, 16th and 19th, respectively, with marks of 15.33m, 14.66m, 14.13m and 13.52m.

Simon was victorious in the javelin with a throw of 59.33m. Senior Chris Morgan (Goffstown, N.H.) was fourth at 57.46m.

Grad student Matt O'Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase in an NCAA Regional-qualifying time of eight minutes, 58.57 seconds.

Senior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) ran to a second-place finish in the 100m in a time of 10.91, just one-hundredth of a second behind the winner. Brehm was also seventh in the 200m in 21.93. Freshman Victor Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.) was 16th and 19th in the respective events with times of 11.21 and 22.44.

In the hammer throw, senior Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) finished fourth with an NCAA Regional-qualifying mark of 60.34m, while Kaste and Randall placed sixth and 10th, respectively, with marks of 58.38 and 52.07. Kaste's mark was an NCAA Regional qualifier. Kaste was also 12th in the discus throw with a toss of 45.48m.

Grad student Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) placed fourth in the 1500m in a time of 3:59.20. Senior Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) was 11th in 4:02.62.

Senior Anthony Vorachak (Lebanon, N.H.) finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.70m, while classmate Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) was 23rd at 5.32m.

In the triple jump, sophomore Max Hoddwells (Wayne, Maine) placed seventh with a mark of 13.97m, while Vorachak was 12th at 13.10m. Hoddwells was also 32nd in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.82.

In the high jump, freshmen Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) and Jason Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) finished seventh and 14th, respectively, with marks of 1.95m and 1.90m.

Junior Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed 11th in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.36.

Sophomore Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 23rd in the 400m in 50.35.

Senior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) finished 39th in the 99-runner 5000m in a time of 14:42.87.

The Wildcats return to action Tuesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. when they travel south to take on the College of the Holy Cross.
