MEN'S TRACK & FIELD HOSTS WILDCAT INVITE III
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Max Hoddwells (Wayne, Maine) submitted a pair of top-two finishes for the University of New Hampshire men's outdoor track and field team at the Wildcat Invitational III on April 24 at Reggie F. Atkins Track.
America East foes the University of Maine and the University of Vermont, as well as the University of Massachusetts, competed at the non-scoring meet.
Hoddwells was victorious in the triple jump with a leap of 13.99 meters, while freshman Garrett Finn (Lebanon, N.H.) was second at 13.54m. Hoddwells was also second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.20 seconds.
Junior Michael Simon (Durham, Conn.) placed first in the javelin throw with a toss of 59.46m. Senior Chris Morgan (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior Matthew Pelchat (Lancaster, N.H.) were second and fourth, respectively, with marks of 58.61m and 53.97m.
Freshman Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 15.38m.
Junior John Donaghy (Sutton, N.H.) was also second in the pole vault as he cleared a height of 4.26m.
In the discus throw, freshman George Jumpp (Manchester, N.H.) and Randall placed third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 41.49m and 39.59m.
On the track, senior Will Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) placed first in the 100m in 10.81. Freshman Chris Houston and junior Wesley Cotnoir (Auburn, N.H.) were second and fourth, respectively, in times of 11.04 and 11.43.
Junior Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the 400-meter hurdles in 54.29.
The Wildcats' 4x400-meter relay team was first in a time of 3:22.78.
Freshman Nick Aubut (Goffstown, N.H.) was second in the 400m in 51.93m.
Sophomore Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was also second in the 800m in 1:55.36.
In the 1500m, seniors Marc Ouellette (Hopkinton, N.H.), Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.), Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) and Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.), as well as sophomore Dan Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.), placed second through sixth, respectively, in times of 3:53.92, 3:54.81, 3:58.52, 4:00.07 and 4:00.82.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Alex Beaulieu (Merrimack, N.H.) and freshman Sidney Griffin (Barrington, R.I.) finished second and third, respectively, in times of 10:17.13 and 10:22.92.
The Wildcats return to action May 1-2 when they play host to the America East Championships at Reggie F. Atkins Track.
