Track & Field Takes Top Finishes at Holy Cross Decathlon/Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior Renrick Pesce (New Hartford, Conn.) won the men's field and senior Kate Early (Corning, N.Y.) claimed the women's side as the University of New Hampshire outdoor track & field teams competed at the Holy Cross decathlon and heptathlon April 20-21.   

Pesce finished first in the decathlon with 5743 total points. The junior recorded marks of 6.34m in the long jump, 11.11m in the shot put, 1.74m in the high jump, 32.45m in the discus, 3.84m in the pole vault and 33.84m in the javelin. Pesce also registered times of 12.06 in the 100m, 53.72 in the 400m, 16.28 in the 110m hurdles and 5:09.17 in the 1500m.  

On the women's side, Early won the heptathlon with 4203 points. In the field, the junior recorded marks of 1.53m in the high jump, 10.33m in the shot put, 4.57m in the long jump and 30.58m in the javelin. On the track, she produced times of 15.52 in the 110m hurdles, 28.23 in the 200m and 2:31.38 in the 800m.

Senior Kaitlyn Dugan (Hatfield, Pa.) was not far behind, coming in second place with 4109 points while freshman Madeline Allen (Lenox, Mass.) finished in 12th with 3287 points.  

The Wildcats return to action April 22-23 at the Larry Ellis Invitational on the campus of Princeton University.
