Track and Field Competes at NCAA East Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) set a new school record for the second time this outdoor season as the University of New Hampshire track & field team competed at the NCAA East Regional Thursday and Friday at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.

On Thursday, Jesseman finished 27th in the women's 10,000m, crossing the finish line in a time of 34:30.30, which set a school record in the event. Earlier this season, Jesseman also set school records in both the indoor and outdoor 5,000m events.  

Graduate student Rita Ciambra (Hanover, N.H.) finished 24th in the women's pole vault on day one with a cleared height of 3.70m. Ciambra set a new meet record in a winning effort at New Englands and captured her third title at the America East Championships, where she broke her own school mark as well as the all-time conference championship record.

On day one, senior Mike Simon (Durham, Conn.) placed 46th in the men's javelin with a toss of 49.96m. Earlier this season, Simon captured his fourth straight conference title in the event before placing third at New Englands.

On Thursday, junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) also competed in the 10,000m. Maguire captured a title in the 10,000m at New Englands and placed fifth in the event at the conference meet.

On Friday, Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) competed in the men's hammer throw. DeTurk won the event at the New England Championships one week after submitting a runner-up performance at the America East Championships.

Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) qualified for the 3,000m steeplechase after she won the event at the conference championships and finished second at New Englands.
