Men’s Track & Field Downs Maine, 94-87

ORONO, Maine. – Eight different Wildcats submitted first-place finishes and a pair of relay teams came out on top as the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track and field team downed the University of Maine, 94-87, Saturday afternoon at UMaine Fieldhouse.

Junior Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) won the high jump with a leap of 1.98 meters, while junior Jason Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) took second at 1.88 meters.

Senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) captured the shot put with a toss of 17.70 meters, while junior Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) claimed second at 15.12 meters.

On the track, freshman D'Mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.80.

Senior Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished first in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 50.05.

Sophomore Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) won the 800 meters in a time of 1:55.78.

Freshmen Zachary Chabot and Dean Bhatt finished first and second, respectively, in the 1000 meters with times of 2:33.60 and 2:33.61.

Junior Corey Duchemin (Manchester, N.H.) finished first in the 3000 meters in a time of 8:41.01.

Senior Renrick Pesce (New Hartford, Conn.) finished first in the heptathlon with 4641 total points over the course of two days.

Freshmen Nicholas Sullivan and McFadden, junior Victor Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.) and Mitchell teamed up to win the 4x440 meter relay in a time of 3:27.91.

Sophomores Eric Stys (Stittville, N.Y.), Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) and Greene and freshman Timothy Brown teamed up to win the 4x880 meter relay in a time of 8:09.48.

The Wildcats return to action on January, 21 when they play host to Holy Cross and Stonehill at the Paul Sweet Oval.
