Men’s Track & Field Impressive at Joe Donahue Indoor Games

BOSTON – Senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) continued his dominance in the shot put this season with his fourth win in as many meets to lead the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team to a fourth-place finish at the Joe Donahue Collegiate Indoor Games at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday afternoon.   

The Wildcats amassed 55.50 points, trailing only Connecticut (187.50), Brown (81) and Northeastern (60.33).

Paey, who has already qualified for the IC4A Championships this season and last week reached the NCAA provisional mark in the shot put, topped the field of 26 with a winning toss of 57-08.25.

Sophomore Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) raced to a second-place finish in the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:28.19, earning him a trip to the IC4A Championships, while freshman Dean Bhatt placed seventh overall in the event at 2:32.32.

In the field, junior Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) tied for a third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6-06.00. 

New Hampshire registered an impressive showing in the weight throw as junior George Jumpp (Manchester, N.H.) and juniors Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) and Chris Dupuis (Plaistow, N.H.) placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, with tosses of 53-02.75, 52-07.25 and 51-06.50. Dupuis and Lyle also finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the shot put with throws of 49-04.25 and 46-10.00.

Freshman D'Mahl McFadden continued his strong rookie campaign by making the finals in a pair of events on the day. McFadden placed fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.80 and also picked up a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 23.00. 

Senior Daniel DeCrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) picked up a seventh-place finish in the 5,000 meters in a time of 15:02.75.

Senior Sean Mitchell (Milford, Mass.) placed eighth in the 500 meters in a time of 1:07.08.  

Additionally, the Wildcats' 4x400 meter relay team raced to a fourth-place finish in a time of 3:24.89, while the Distance Medley relay team placed sixth in a time of 10:35.06.  

The Wildcats return to action on Feb. 4 when they compete at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic at 12 p.m.
