Men’s Track & Field Finishes Fourth at AE Championship

Day One Recap

BOSTON – Senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) captured his third career conference shot put title to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track & field team to a fourth-place finish at the America East Championships on Saturday at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

With 96.50 points, UNH finished behind Albany (187.50), Boston University (151.50) and Binghamton (108.50), but ahead of UMBC (90), Maine (57), Stony Brook (43), Vermont (30) and Hartford (16).

Paey, who has yet to lose in the shot put this season, won the event with a toss of 58-11.50, breaking his own conference championship record. Junior Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) took third with a toss of 51-06.25, also qualifying for the IC4As, while junior Christopher Dupuis (Plaistow, N.H.) finished fifth with a toss of 49-01.00.

Sophomore Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) finished runner-up in the 1,000 meters with an IC4A-qualifying time of 2:25.88. Freshman Dean Bhatt (Woodbridge, Conn.) also qualified for the IC4As in the event with a fourth-place finish in a time of 2:29.34.

In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) claimed second place in an IC4A-qualifying time of 8.20.

In the field, junior Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) tied for a third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6-05.00, while junior Jason Guarente took seventh with a jump of 6-03.50.

Junior Max Hoddwells (Wayne, Maine) picked up a third-place finish in the triple jump with an IC4a-qualifying leap of 47-01.50.

Senior Sean Mitchell (Milford, Mass.) took sixth in the 500 meters, crossing the finish line in an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:05.07.

Senior William Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) finished sixth in the 800 meters in an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:53.35.

Senior Renrick Pesce (New Hartford, Conn.) finished sixth in the heptathlon, racking up a total of 4533 points.

Freshman Nicholas Sullivan (Newport, N.H.) finished 10th in the 400 meters in a time of 50.48.

The Wildcats' 4x800 meter team of Bhatt, Greene, Godfrey and sophomore Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) finished fourth in an IC4A-qualifying time of 7:45.24. The 4x400 meter relay team of McFadden, freshman Isaiah Penn (Boston, Mass.), Hodwells and Mitchell placed sixth in a time of 3:20.71.

The Wildcats return to action Feb. 24-25 for the New England Championships Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
