BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) and the distance medley relay team both turned in 10th-place finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track & field team on the first day of the IC4A Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Saturday.
Lyle claimed 10th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 58-07.25 for the Wildcats, who currently do not have a team score, while junior George Jumpp (Manchester, N.H.) earned 16th in the event with a throw of 54-04.75.
The Wildcats' distance medley relay team of sophomore Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.), senior William Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.), and freshmen Dean Bhatt (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) crossed the finish line in a time of 10:01.59, just missing out on on the final round by one place.
Freshman D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) placed 20th overall in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.36.
Senior Sean Mitchell (Milford, Mass.) turned in a 26th-place finish in the 500 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:05.57.
The Wildcats' 4x400 meter relay team of freshmen Nicholas Sullivan (Newport, N.H.), James Anderson (Melrose, Mass.), McFadden and Isaiah Penn (Boston, Mass.) finished 26th overall in a time of 3:17.84. The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Corey Duchemin (Manchester, N.H.), freshman Timothy Brown, and sophomores Eric Stys (Stittville, N.Y.) and Steve Souza (Fall River, Mass.) finished 21st in a time of 7:53.05.
The Wildcats will wrap up the IC4As on Sunday at the Track & Tennis Center.
