BOSTON – Junior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) finished sixth overall in the mile to lead the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team to a 33rd-place finish at the IC4A Championships over the weekend at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
The Wildcats totaled five points, while Connecticut won the meet with 104 points.
Greene placed sixth in finals of the mile in a time of 4:07.01 after taking second overall in the preliminaries with a time of 4:06.88. Greene captured the America East title in the event at the conference championships earlier this season and most recently placed second overall in the 1,000 meters at the New England Championships.
The Wildcats' 4x800 meter relay team took seventh overall in the finals with a time of 7:33.94. On Saturday, the squad of sophomore James Anderson (Melrose, Mass.), freshman Luke Miller (Birdsboro, Pa.), junior Eric Stys (Stittville, N.Y.) and Greene placed fifth overall in the trials with a record-breaking time of 7:33.13. The team broke the previous school record of 7:37.09, which was set in 2010.
Sophomore John Prizzi (Wycoff, N.J.) claimed 13th in the 3,000 meters as he crossed the finish line in a time of 8:18.37.
On Saturday, senior David Gervais (Nashua, N.H.) placed 21st overall in 1,000 meters in a time of 2:30.28, while the Wildcats' 4x400 meter relay team took 24th in a time of 3:19.47.
The NCAA Championships are March 8-9 on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. UNH kicks off its outdoor season Saturday, March 30 when they take on the University of Maine in a dual meet at the Beckett Track & Field Complex.
