Russell, Edgerton earn All-Conference honors
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Matt Russell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) finished fifth overall to lead a quintet of Wildcats in the top 20 and the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the America East Championship, which was held Saturday at Binghamton University.
UNH compiled 62 points, which was bettered only by UMBC's mark of 52 points. Maine (71 points), Boston University (91), Albany (103), Vermont (165), Stony Brook (180), Binghamton (194) and Hartford (280) completed the scoring.
Russell covered the 8K course in 26 minutes, 5.5 seconds, which was 27.7 seconds behind individual champion Kirby Davis of Maine. Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H.) also earned a top-10 placing as he was the 10th runner to cross the finish line with a time of 26:22.2. By virtue of finishing in the top 10, both Russell and Edgerton received All-Conference Team honors.
Jordan Horwitz (Evanston, Ill.) followed 13 seconds later to earn 12th place and Rodolfo Crispin (Ridgewood, N.J.) was timed in 26:41.9 to finish 15th. Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) closed the UNH scoring in 20th place with a time of 26:54.6.
Andrew Van Hoogenstyn (Scarborough, Maine) also ran for the Wildcats and placed 23rd with a time of 27:01.0. Benjamin Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) rounded out the varsity team in 26th place at 27:09.7.
