ORONO, Maine -- Jordan Horwitz (Evanston, Ill.) led a pack of five Wildcat runners in the top 10 with a third-place finish, but the host University of Maine men’s cross country team recorded a 24-32 victory against the University of New Hampshire on Friday afternoon.
Horwitz completed the course in 25 minutes, 47 seconds to finish behind Maine’s Kirby Davis (25:23) and Josh Trevino (25:33). Rodolfo Crispin (Clifton, N.J.) was the next UNH harrier to cross the finish line in fifth place overall at 26:09. Andrew Lawson (Holland Patent, N.Y.) finished four seconds later in seventh place and Brent Powers (Remsen, N.J.) placed eighth in 26:14.
Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) completed UNH’s scoring in ninth place, just two seconds behind Powers. Jesse Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) crossed the finish line two seconds after Jenkins to claim 10th place.
New Hampshire returns to action Sept. 30 for the Murray Keatinge Invitational, which is at the University of Maine.
