STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Sophomore Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) finished in fifth place to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team to a first-place finish at the Stony Brook Cross Country Invitational on Friday.
The Wildcats placed five runners in the top 10 to beat out four other teams, including the University at Albany, StonyBrookUniversity, WagnerCollege and HartfordCollege, to grab their first dual-meet win of the year.
Dinnan’s time of 18 minutes, 7.68 seconds set the pace for UNH, and was closely followed by junior Matthew O’Connor’s (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) sixth-place time of 18:08.62.
Joshua Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished eighth with a time of 18:23.68, followed by Nicholas Decrescenzo (New Milford, Ct.) in ninth with a time of18:24.08 and Dylan McGuffin (Northfield, N.H.) in 10th, who clocked in at 18:38.58.
The next race for the Wildcats will be Sept. 21 when they travel to Orono, Maine to take on the University of Maine at
