BRONX, N.Y. – Seniors Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.), Ben Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) and Brent Powers (Remsen, N.Y.) placed 37th, 40th and 45th, respectively, to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the 33-team NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Qualifier on Saturday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Wildcats finished with 283 points, which trailed Iona College (46), Providence College (88), Columbia University (103), Dartmouth College (122), Syracuse University (161), Cornell University (172), the University of Massachusetts (238) and Harvard University (276).
Decrescenzo finished in a time of 33 minutes, 7.4 seconds, while Jenkins crossed the finish line at 33:09.1 and Powers completed the course in 33:10.6.
Junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) was 75th in a time of 33:59.0, while fellow junior Josh Kearns (New Milford, Conn.) placed 86th in the 239-runner field in 34:14.4.
The top-two teams and top-four individuals at the race advance to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 24 at Indiana State University.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 22 at the ICAAAA Championships back at Van Cortlandt Park.
