UNH MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY NARROWLY BEATEN BY MAINE
ORONO, Maine - Freshman Patrick Taft (Hanson, Mass.) ran to a second-place finish, but the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team lost to the University of Maine in a dual meet Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats finished with 29 points, while the Black Bears totaled 27.
Taft crossed the finish line in a time of 26 minutes, 15 seconds.
Freshman Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) and sophomore Alex Beaulieu (Merrimack, N.H.) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in times of 26:25 and 26:42.
Junior Michael Peabody (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshman Michael Ryan (Dallas, Pa.) rounded out the Wildcat scorers by finishing eighth and ninth, respectively, in times of 26:46 and 26:53.
The Wildcats return to action Friday, Oct. 2 at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
