WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore John Prizzi (Wyckoff, N.J.) placed 67th overall to lead the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a 20th-place finish at the 37-team New England Championships Sunday afternoon at Stanley Park.
The Wildcats finished the varsity division with 519 total points, while Dartmouth captured the meet with 83 points.
Prizzi completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:35.38, two weeks after he finished fifth overall in a dual-meet against rival Maine. The sophomore was the third Wildcat to cross the finish line at last week's Paul Short Invitational.
Junior Joseph Jourdain (Hudson, N.H.) was the second Wildcat to cross the finish line as he placed 95th at 25:53.16.
Sophomores Jeff Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) and Dean Bhatt (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished 110th and 113th, respectively, in times of 26:03.07 and 26:04.29. Fellow sophomore Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) turned-in a 134th-place finish at 26:12.43.
Jeremy Wildgoose (Woodstock, Conn.) was 156th at 26:26.88, while classmate David Gervais (Nashua, N.H.) placed 167th in a time of 26:41.33.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 when they take part in the Pre-Nationals meet at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
