DURHAM, N.H. - Sue Johnson, head coach of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, announced Friday that Colleen Mullen will join the program for the 2000-01 season. Mullen, a Chelmsford, Mass. resident and graduate of Chelmsford High School, is transferring to UNH from the University of Rhode Island.
"We are excited that Colleen has committed to our program," Johnson said. "She will provide additional experience, leadership and talent to our backcourt."
Mullen, a 5-foot-4 point guard, started 13 of the 17 games in which she played as a sophomore for URI in the 1999-2000 season. She ranked second on the team in scoring at 9.5 ppg - she led the team in scoring six times - and also contributed 3.0 assists per game. As a freshman, Mullen averaged 8.5 ppg and 3.7 apg for the Rams.
Mullen is the fourth player signed by Johnson and her UNH staff this season. She will join Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn.), Quandra Harrison (Brockton, Mass.), Sarah Rappoport (Herndon, Va.), who signed with the Wildcats last fall.
