LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The University of New Hampshire fell to Siena College 75-44 in women's basketball action here at the Alumni Recreation Center this evening. The Wildcats now stand at 2-4 on the season while the Saints are 3-2.
Maren Matthias led the Wildcats with 10 points.
Neither side led by more than six points in the first half. UNH took its first lead at 12-10 with 11:01 remaining in the half on a pair of Matthias free throws. From there both sides traded baskets for much of the half. The Saints would outscore New Hampshire 7-2 down the stretch in the half to take a 28-22 lead into the locker room.
The hosts outscored UNH 18-8 over the first eight minutes of the second half to take a 46-30 lead with 12:06 to play. The 'Cats cut the lead to 13, 52-39, on a Kiki Proctor layup with 9:12 to play. New Hampshire would come no closer the rest of the way.
UNH was playing its third road game in the past seven days.
New Hampshire returns home on Friday (12/8) when the 'Cats host Delaware in UNH's 2000-01 America East season opener. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
