WOMEN'S HOOP OVERPOWERS DARTMOUTH, 75-52

HANOVER, N.H. - Senior guard Heidi Plencner (Hampton, NH) had a team-high of 14 points, including four three-pointers, and Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn.) scored all 10 of her points in the decisive first half as the UNH women's basketball team rolled past intrastate rival Dartmouth College, 75-52 Tuesday night at Leede Arena.

UNH moved above the .500 mark for the season at 8-7 (2-2 America East). Dartmouth, which was without leading scorer Katherine Hanks (dislocated knee) dropped to 5-9 on the year (1-2 Ivy League).

The Wildcats put the clamps on defensively in the first half, holding the Green scoreless for more than 10 minutes in the period. Plencner's three-pointer put UNH up 27-7 with 5:16 remaining in the opening period. UNH limited Dartmouth used a 9-4 run to cut the lead to 15 at the half but the 'Cats responded with an 8-0 to begin the second half. The Big Green never threatened again.

Matthias also had a team-high nine rebounds and Aubrey Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.) had 10 points for UNH. Courtney Lewis had 15 points and Keri Downs 10 for the Big Green, who hit just 6 of 27 field goals in the first half.
