WOMEN'S HOOP ROUTS MORGAN STATE IN SEASON-OPENER, 67-39

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Senior Aubrey Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.) had 18 points and nine rebounds as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team advanced to the championship round of the Seton Hall Basketball Classic with a 67-39 victory over Morgan State University Friday night at Walsh Gym.

The Wildcats, now 1-0, also got 10 points and five assists from senior guard Colleen Mullen (Chelmsford, Mass.) in improving to 15-12 all-time in season-openers.

UNH, which led just 33-25 at halftime, outscored the Bears 22-10, including 13-0 during one stretch, to start the second half and take a commanding 55-35 lead with 6:58 remaining. Danen scored 11 of her points during the run. The Wildcat defense had 13 steals and forced 14 turnovers in limiting the Bears to just 14 points in the second half.

The Bears shot just 26 percent from the field, including just 4 of 28 in the second half. Sherie Cornish had a team-high 10 points for Morgan State.

UNH moves on to face host Seton Hall in the championship game tomorrow (11/17) afternoon at 3 p.m. The Pirates beat Binghamton University, 61-44 in the tourney opener. Morgan State faces Binghamton in the consolation game at 1 p.m. UNH is 2-0 all-time against Seton Hall.
