WOMEN'S HOOP PICKED FOURTH IN AMERICA EAST PRESEASON POLL

BOSTON - The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the America East preseason coaches poll released Tuesday. Vermont, which was the regular season champion in 2001-02, was picked first, followed by Boston University and Maine. The 'Cats garnered a total of 36 points.

UNH returns eight players, including four starters, from last season's team that reached the semifinals of the America East tournament. Among the returnees are Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn.) and Aubrey Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.) who were both America East All-Conference selections last season. Geneva Livingston (Red Bank, N.J.) was a member of the America East All-Rookie Team last winter, while tri-captain Colleen Mullen (Chelmsford, Mass.) also returns after starting 28 of 29 games at the point last season.

The Wildcats open the 2002-03 season Friday, November 22, when they host Manhattan College in a 7 p.m. game at Lundholm Gymnasium.
