DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team will have its final tuneup for the 2003-04 season Thursday night when the Wildcats host the NWBL Elite Northeast team in an exhibition contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 at Lundholm Gymnasium.

UNH won its first exhibition game on November 7 when the 'Cats defeated Austrian club team UBBC Herzogenburg 81-56. Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn.) had 20 points and nine rebounds in the win, while freshman Ray Williams (Mississauga, Ontario) had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Another freshman, Salée-Marie Johnson (Brampton, Ontario), registered 12 points while sophomore Kate Poulin (Kitchener, Ontario) chipped in with 10.

The NWBL Elite team is made up of professional players from the six-team National Women's Basketball League as well as former college standouts. Among the players on the roster are 6-foot-5 Gail Strumpf out of Fairfield University, former Division III All-American Rhonda Jo Miller of Gallaudet and Angie Pezzetta and Cheri Eleazer of UNH's America East rival Hartford.

New Hampshire kicks off the 2003-04 season when it hosts St. Bonaventure Tuesday, November 25. Game time at Lundholm Gymnasium is 7:00 pm.
