DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire Wildcats used the team concept Tuesday evening, as several players made contributions in UNH's 62-48 victory over the Marist Red Foxes in the women's basketball home opener at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Seniors Lindsay Adams (Theresa, N.Y.) and Ebony Woods (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Wildcats in scoring with 13 and 12 points respectively. Adams tied Danielle Clark (Corinna, Maine) for the team lead in rebounds with seven each, while Woods contributed five rebounds and two assists.

Besides her rebounds, Clark scored seven points, dished out four assists, and earned two steals, while Emily Hardy (Westbrook, Conn.) came off the bench to contribute five points, two rebounds, and three assists. Ashley Cerniglia (Pittsford, N.Y.) earned nine points and two steals, Whitney Edwards (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) contributed seven points and five rebounds, and Ray Williams (Mississauga, Ontario) added six points, five rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot to the winning cause.

For Marist (0-3), Fifi Camara led the Red Foxes with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three steals before fouling out late in the game. Julianne Viani also reached double figures with ten points, but Marist struggled to score points, hitting only 31.7 percent of its field goal attempts, including 15.8 percent of its three-point attempts.

The Red Foxes took an early three-point lead at 10-7, but UNH responded with a 22-4 run to go up 29-14 with six minutes remaining in the first half. Marist came out of the locker room after halftime with extra motivation, scoring ten of the first 11 points to cut the margin to eight at 36-28. The Wildcats again responded, going on a 16-5 run to take their biggest lead at 52-33 with 8:25 remaining in the game. The two teams basically traded baskets the rest of the evening.

New Hampshire (2-0) looks to continue its winning ways this weekend in the inaugural Wildcat Classic. UNH will face Cornell Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m., then play either Boston College or North Texas on Sunday, Nov. 27.
