DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire head coach Sue Johnson announced the regular season schedule for the upcoming women’s basketball season on Tuesday.
The Wildcats open the 2006-07 campaign on the road with a visit to the University of Massachusetts on November 14 before returning home to host Wagner on November 17 in their home opener before visits from Iona (Nov. 26) and Providence College (Nov. 28).
The ‘Cats travel on the road throughout the most of December with games at Central Connecticut State (Dec. 2) and one of the schedule’s most anticipated games with a visit to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts to square-off against Johnson’s former mentor, Cathy Inglese, and the Boston College Eagles (Dec. 5). UNH wraps up the year with a visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, where they will compete at Virginia Tech’s “Lady Luck Classic” (Dec. 28-29).
The New Year rings in the America East schedule as the ‘Cats host Stony Brook (Jan. 13) before Binghamton (Jan. 17) and UMBC (Jan. 20) come to Durham. The Wildcats entertain 2005-06 America East champion Hartford on February 7 before heading out on a three game road trip. UNH closes out the regular season on March 3 with a visit to Binghamton.
UNH returns four starters, which include three All-America East members. The ‘Cats posted a 15-13 overall record in 2005-06 and hope the six talented newcomers will contribute to a run at the conference championship in 2006-07.
