CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Denise Beliveau (Framingham, Mass.), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team, was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
    In the Wildcats’ first week of action, Beliveau averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Beliveau posted 17 points to lead the Wildcats in a 71-59 win over Tennessee-Martin as part of the South Florida Shootout at the Sun Dome on Sunday afternoon. She also led the Wildcats in offensive rebounds with five for a career-best eight boards in the game. In the first game of the Shootout Beliveau had seven points and five rebounds in the game against South Florida. In her first collegiate game versus Central Connecticut, Beliveau posted eight points and had three steals. Beliveau shot .444 for the week, including .429 (6-for-14) behind the 3-point arc.    
    The last time the Wildcats earned the Rookie of the Week honors was in the 2003-04 season when the team won three times. Ray Williams was the most recent recipient, taking the award on Feb. 29, 2004.
    Beliveau and her teammates will host St. Peter’s on Saturday, Nov. 24. Tip-off at Lundholm Gymnasium is 1 p.m.
